‘I’m glad Chelsea didn’t get Osimhen in the summer,’ says former Premier League player, Cundy
Former Premier League player and radio broadcaster for talkSPORT, Jason Cundy says he is delighted Chelsea did not sign Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen in the summer.
The west London side were among top clubs in Europe and Saudi Arabia linked with the Napoli striker with Chelsea’s deadline day move aborted due to the wage demand of the Nigerian.
Cundy, who featured 16 times in the Premier League and scored one goal for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, admitted his delight about the failed attempt.
‘I’m glad we didn’t get Osimhen in the summer, because if we did, we wouldn’t be seeing the numbers of Jackson is putting up. But there is a case to be said. Do we need a backup? And Nkunku right now isn’t that backup? And that’s the problem we have as a squad.
‘We don’t really have a genuine backup for Jackson, but because he’s so young. How do you back up someone so young. So therefore, if you bring someone in, you got to bring someone who’s going to go over Jackson. Who is that player?’ Cundy told talkSPORT.
