‘I’m here to win’: Iheanacho targets silverware in Celtic switch

Kelechi Iheanacho has shared his enthusiasm about reuniting with manager Brendan Rodgers, under whom he enjoyed success at Leicester City.

The Nigerian also described Celtic as a ‘massive club’.

‘I’m excited to be a Celtic player and I’m feeling really good about it. I’ve been following Celtic for a long time. I’m happy to be part of that now and hopefully it’ll be a great season. I’m looking forward to fighting for silverware with Celtic.

‘In England, I won trophies, so hopefully I can be a winner here as well’ Iheanacho said.

Iheanacho’s career began at Manchester City, where he won the League Cup, before moving to Leicester City, where he lifted the FA Cup in 2021 under Rodgers.

His move to Celtic not only reunites him with the Northern Irish manager, but also with former Leicester teammate Kasper Schmeichel.

‘I’m really happy to be working with Brendan again. He’s a great man and a great coach with a good personality. The gaffer knows me and knows what I can offer, so I just can’t wait to get going,’ Iheanacho added.
