‘I’m living in the moment’: Osimhen dismisses transfer rumours, nets 29th goal in 33 games

Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has dismissed the transfer rumours about him after netting his 29th goal of the season across all competitions.

The goal, his 21st in 24 Super Lig games this season, four shy off the 26 he scored in 32 appearances for Napoli in the 2022/23 season which not only inspired the Naples based team to their first Scudetto in 33 years but also ensured he emerged the first African to top score in a Serie A season.

This is the second time in almost nine seasons in Europe the 26-year-old will score at least 20 league goals and if he scores five more in the remaining seven games, he will be setting a new personal goalscoring record of 27 goals in 31 games.

The Nigerian’s 29 goals in 33 games across all competitions is also only bettered by the 31 he scored in 39 games in the 2022/23 season for Napoli. This means with just three more goals in the remaining seven games left in the Super Lig, the Nigerian can take his total tally to 32 goals in 41 games.

Meanwhile, Osimhen says he is not disturbed by the transfer rumours linking him to several big clubs in major European Leagues and even Saudi Arabia.
The Galatasaray loanee insists his main focus is to help the Yellow and Red win the Super Lig.

“There are always rumors about me. I’m living in the moment. I enjoy the club and life. I’m fighting for my team and the 5th star. We will see at the end of the season in terms of transfers, but despite everything, Galatasaray will be in my heart forever,’ Osimhen said after the 2-0 defeat of their host, Samsunspor in Super Lig tie.

Osimhen is also delighted with the win.

‘We rushed a bit in the first half, we wanted to show ourselves. We needed to have a little more possession of the ball. We knew our opponent, it was to their advantage. We played with more patience in the second half.

‘I’m happy to score. We have to move on from that. The focus is on us. We have a responsibility as a team. We want to win every game. We have this quality. We have to fight to overcome the opponents and lift this trophy. We’re the ones with the advantage right now, but it’s not going to be easy,’ he said.
