‘I’m so excited because I wanted to come here so much’: Yoruba boy, Michael Kayode explains why Brentford is the ‘perfect club’ for him

Michael Kayode says Brentford is the ‘perfect club’ for him to join after completing a loan deal from Serie A club, Fiorentina on Friday.

The 20-year-old right-back has signed for the remainder of the 2024/25 season with an option to make the transfer permanent in the summer.

The Italian whose parents are from the Southwestern part of Nigeria and has played for the Italian U19 and U21 teams wants to help Brentford clinch a ticket to play in Europe.

‘I’m so excited because I wanted to come here so much. I think Brentford is the perfect club for me. I love the stadium, the fans and my team-mates.

‘I want to work match by match but my dream with Brentford would be to help them reach European competitions next season. I want to work match by match but my dream with Brentford would be to help them reach European competitions next season,’ said Kayode.

The Nigerian by name also told Brentford supporters what to watch out for when he gets to play.

‘I’m fast and strong. I like to give a lot of help to my team-mates, I like to advance as a full-back. I want to assist my team-mates to score goals and to win in difficult moments and difficult matches..
