‘In Gift Orban, we have found exactly the fast striker with good depth that we were looking for’: TSG Hoffenheim sign Nigerian

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim say they have found the ideal striker they have been looking for in Nigerian, Gift Orban who has been signed on a long term contract from French Ligue 1 side, Lyon.

“In Gift Orban, we have found exactly the fast striker with good depth that we were looking for. Gift has proven his goal threat and his joy of playing time and again at his previous stops, so we are convinced that he will give our team greater versatility in attack with his skills,”TSG Hoffenheim sporting director, Andreas Schicker told the club’s official website.

Gift Orban moved from Belgian first division club KAA Gent to Olympique Lyon in France in January 2024. At the Ligue 1 side, he made 21 competitive appearances and scored five goals.

It was at KAA Gent the Nigerian, 22, scored plenty of goals. He made 52 competitive appearances for the Belgian Jupiler Pro League side and scored 32 goals.

Orban started his football career local side, Bison FC in Nigeria before he was loaned to the then Norwegian second division club Stabæk Fotball in 2022.

There he scored 16 goals in 22 games and was voted the best young player in the Norwegian second division and then also promoted to the first division of Norway with Stabæk Fotball at the end of that season.
