Incredible Okoye takes positives from Udinese’s loss to AC Milan
Maduka Okoye made a number of top class saves in Udinese’s 1-0 loss to AC Milan at the San Siro on Saturday and the Nigerian felt there were positives to take away despite the defeat.
The 25-year-old was lauded for the number of top-class saves he made to keep his club in the game, although ultimately it proved to be in vain.
‘It’s a shame because we came here to win. We battled away as a team. We were up against Milan at San Siro and that’s not easy but we played very well. We did lots of things really well and we can build on those and take them into the next game,’ Okoye told his club’s official website.
The former Watford of England goalie says he is always happy to help the team.
He said: ‘I’m happy to help the team but the main thing is picking up points and we got none today. We’re very grateful to our fans because without them nothing would be possible. Forza Udinese!’
Okoye has conceded four goals in the two games he has played against AC Milan since he made his debut in the Serie A in December 2023.
Interestingly, two Nigerians, one a full blooded Nigerian and the other playing for another country, scored the winners in the two defeats.
Noah Okafor netted a 93rd minute goal in the 3-2 loss at the Bluenergy Stadium in January this year and Samuel Chukwueze scored the only goal of the game on Saturday.
