Is Fraser-Pryce targeting a seventh individual World outdoor gold in Tokyo after posting a cryptic message on Facebook?

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is certainly the most decorated woman in the history of the World Athletics Championships. The Jamaican has won six individual gold medals (five in 100m and one in 200m) and led her country to win four gold medals in the 4x100m event.

At the Olympics, Fraser-Pryce, now 3-, won three gold viz two in the 100m and one in the 4x100m with so many silver and bronze medals.

Last year, the Jamaican was a shadow of her former self and looked like she had already invited Old Father Time for her retirement dinner.

It was looking more like she would be making an official announcement soon but what did we get on December 30, 2024? A message that could be interpreted in more ways than one.

‘The moment you decide what you truly want and commit to it, something powerful happens. Your mindset and your intentions create your reality,’ wrote the woman who in 2022 ran inside 11 seconds 10 times with six of them a sub-10.70 seconds.

The 20th World Athletics Championships will hold in Tokyo, Japan this September and it would be Fraser-Pryce’s ninth edition if she makes it there since she made her debut in the competition in 2007 at the Yanmar Stadium Nagai in Osaka, Japan.

The Jamaican won her first medal, a 4x100m silver, on Japanese soil in 2007 and may end with a medal this time in Tokyo, Japan!
