Iwobi edges closer to Kanu’s assists record with first of the season for Fulham

Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi bagged his first assist of the season in his club’s 5-0 mauling of West Ham at Craven Cottage Sunday evening and moved a step closer to breaking Kanu Nwankwo’s assists record.

Iwobi is now just an assist away from equalling the former Arsenal man’s feat after providing the assist for Brazilian, Willian to score Fulham’s second goal on 31 minutes.

The former Arsenal and Everton player has now bagged 28 assists in 235 appearances in the competition. The 27 year old holds the most assists (7) by a Nigerian in a single Premier League season and now hopes to also own all seasons.

Iwobi scored a brace last mid-week in the 5-0 defeat of Nothingham Forest to take his goal tally to three, the most he has achieved in a single Premier League season.

Overall he has scored 20 times to still stay as the joint ninth most prolific Nigerian in Premier League history with Victor Moses who also netted 20 goals in 220 appearances.
