Iwobi feeling sharp and ready for 2024/25 Premier League season to start

Alex Iwobi says he is feeling sharp and ready to start his 10th season in the Premier League to start after helping Fulham defeat German side, Hoffenheim on Friday.

The Nigerian was not on target in the game but created a few chances for his teammates to score twice and the 28 year old feels the Cottagers are ready for the season after finishing 13th last term.

Iwobi who netted five times (his most in a season) and provided two assists in 32 Premier League games last season told FFCTV his views about the game and the fast-approaching new season.

‘It’s good that we were able to get the result, get some minutes in the legs. I’m very tired right now but feeling sharp and ready for the season to start.

‘If I can’t score at least I’m able to create chances for my team-mates and Smith Rowe and Adama Traore are going to put those chances away. It’s not just them – there are so many goal threats in this team.

‘I played with Emile in the past, I know what kind of runs and qualities he can bring to the team. I’ve made him feel welcome – he’s scored two in two now – hopefully he can make it three in three against Manchester United (who they play on Friday in their opening Premier League fixture).

‘He’s a nice kid, he’s easy going, he’s always eager to learn, he hasn’t got an ego and he gets on with everyone. He makes it easy for us – it isn’t just his footballing ability, his personality makes him a great addition to the team.

‘You can almost over hit a pass to Adama because he’s so quick. I don’t think he knows quite how quick he is.

‘When have such a weapon on the pitch, you have to try and utilise it as much as you can. It was a great finish from him after running the length of the pitch to stay composed. It was good for him to get on the scoresheet and it will do him the world of good in terms of confidence.’
