Iwobi gets 85.7% of Fulham fans’ votes, named MOTM Vs Brighton

Fans of Fulham FC seem to have taken a cue from the Premier League following their overwhelming vote for Alex Iwobi as the best Cottager in the 3-1 defeat of Brighton at Craven Cottage on Thursday night.

The result of the online poll for the man of the match was released Friday by the club on its official website and the Nigerian won by an absolute landslide, with 85.7 per cent of fans voting for him, putting him miles ahead of his closest rivals Sander Berge (3.7) and Bernd Leno (3.1).

The 28-year-old scored two goals to inspire the Cottagers to victory.

It was the second time in his Premier League career that he would net a brace. He scored his first brace last December, netting Fulham’s first and fourth goals in the 5-0 demolition of Nottingham Forest.

The brace bought his totally to five goals, equaling a personal scoring record of a Premier League season.

He also moved up to eighth in the Nigerian all-time top scorers’ list with 27 goals, one ahead of retired Victor Anichebe who ended his Premier League scoring just 26 goals as a striker.
