Iwobi, Onyeka, Bassey Boost Super Eagles AFCON 2025 Camp to 15 in Cairo

The Super Eagles Africa Cup of Nations camp in Cairo has increased to fifteen players following the arrivals of Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka and Calvin Bassey.

The trio joined the squad on Monday as preparations intensify ahead of Tuesday’s international friendly against Egypt.

Before their arrival, the camp already included Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali, Fisayo Dele‑Bashiru, Akinsanmiro Ebenezer, Amas Obasogie, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Bright Osayi‑Samuel, Igho Ogbu, Tochukwu Nnadi, Zaidu Sanusi and Paul Onuachu.

Onyeka is aiming for his third AFCON appearance, having featured in the 2022 and 2024 editions. He has started seven of the eight matches he has played in the competition.

Bassey is also targeting his third AFCON tournament after playing in 2022 and 2024. The defender has started six of his seven AFCON games, including the 2024 final against Côte d’Ivoire.

Iwobi is set for his fourth AFCON appearance. The midfielder has started 13 of his 18 matches in the tournament and has scored once.
