Iwobi Reveals Chaotic Exit: How I was Sold By Arsenal

Alex Iwobi has opened up about the chaotic circumstances surrounding his departure from Arsenal, describing how he was rushed into a move to Everton without much time to reflect.

The Nigerian international, who came through Arsenal’s academy and broke into the first team as a promising youngster, revealed that he was on holiday with his parents when his agent and then-Everton manager Marco Silva contacted him about the transfer.

At the time, Unai Emery had granted him extra time off, but the sudden calls meant he had to make a decision quickly.

Iwobi recalled moving into a ‘dark and lonely hotel’ in Liverpool almost immediately, admitting he struggled with homesickness after leaving London for the first time.

Looking back, he says he wishes he had asked more questions about life at Everton before committing to the switch.

Despite the difficult transition, Iwobi went on to establish himself in the Premier League, first at Everton and now at Fulham, where he has become a key figure under Silva once again.

Arsenal fans may feel his exit was poorly handled, with some believing he could have remained a useful squad player at the Emirates.
