Iwobi scores for the 10th straight season in the Premier League

Alex Iwobi scored his 23rd Premier League goal and first of the season in Fulham’s 2-1 defeat of Wilfred Ndidi’s Leicester City at the Craven Cottage on Saturday.

The Nigerian scored on 71 minutes, his first since March this year, to restore Fulham’s advantage after Wout Faes restored parity for the Foxes following Emile Smith Rowe’s first Premier League goal for his new club in the 18th minute.

The goal proved to be his second winner for the Cottagers since he joined from Everton in September 2023.

Iwobi scored his first winner for Fulham in February when he netted a 97th minute goal to give his side a 2-1 win, the club’s first in 20 years at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old is just the second player after Nwankwo Kanu to score in at least 10 straight Premier League seasons. Kanu scored in 12.

Iwobi netted twice in 13 appearances in his debut season (2015/2016) and scored thrice each in the following three seasons.

The former Arsenal player enjoyed his best season in front of goal when he moved to Fulham, netting five times in 30 Premier League games.

The Nigerian also extended his record as the Nigerian with most minutes played in the history of the competition. He has now played 16,989 minutes of Premier League football in 255 appearances.
