Iwobi seeking to become 10th Nigerian to score 10 goals in a Premier League season

Alex Iwobi will be looking to score his 10th Premier League goal of the season when his club, Fulham, face relegated Southampton at the Saint Mary’s stadium on Saturday.
Iwobi is enjoying his most productive Premier League season in front of goal with nine strikes in his last 33 games and another goal on Saturday will make him the 10th Nigerian player in Premier League history to score at least 10 goals in a Premier League season.
It will also be his first goal in 15 games against Southampton in the Premier League. He has however provided four assists.
Taiwo Awoniyi was the ninth bonafide Nigerian to score 10 goals in a Premier League season when he netted 10 times on his debut.
Iwobi is gunning for this exclusive feat at his 10th time of asking, and the former Everton midfielder is backed to score another goal in his final five games of the 2024/25 season.
The 28 year old is also gunning for his 40th game for the season, a mark he has only reached twice before now in the nine full seasons he has completed in the competition.
He played 51 games for Arsenal in the 2018/19 season with 35 of the games in the Premier League and 11 in the Europa League. He scored six times and provided nine assists across all competitions.
Just two seasons ago, he featured in 41 games for Everton, including all 38 games in the Premier League. He scored just twice but provided eight assists.
This season, he has featured in 39 games with 33 coming in the Premier League, four in the FA Cup and two in the EFL Cup. He has however scored nine times, all in the Premier League and bagged five assists, also all in the Premier League.
