Iwobi Set for EPL Return, Eyes Record Goal Involvement Against Brighton

Alex Iwobi could reach a new Premier League milestone this weekend when Fulham take on Brighton.

The Nigerian midfielder has already registered three goals and four assists against the Seagulls across 15 previous meetings, and another goal involvement on Saturday would see him equal his personal best tally of eight against a single opponent, a record he currently holds versus West Ham.

Iwobi’s return is significant for Fulham. After missing six league matches while representing Nigeria at AFCON 2025, he is set for his 245th Premier League start and 308th overall appearance in the competition.

It will also mark his 85th outing for the Cottagers, where he has been ever-present this season, starting all 16 league games he featured before the AFCON break and contributing two goals and two assists.

Joining him back in Marco Silva’s squad is Calvin Bassey, fresh from being named in CAF’s Team of the Tournament. The defender has featured 16 times in the league this season, scoring once, and will be eager to notch his first goal against Brighton, having faced them five times with two wins, two draws, and a single defeat.

Samuel Chukwueze is another key figure returning from AFCON duty. On loan from AC Milan, the winger has already made an impact with two goals and four assists in nine league appearances. He found the net in his last Premier League outing, a 3-2 win at Burnley, and will be looking to extend that form in what will be his first clash with Brighton.

Elsewhere in the division, Tolu Arokodare is hoping to continue his run of starts for his club at the Etihad against Manchester City.

The striker has featured 18 times in his debut Premier League season, scoring once against Arsenal, and is determined to add another goal against a top-four side.
