Iwobi’s Project 17 Earns Prestigious Community Award, Named on Football Black List 2025
Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has been named on the prestigious Football Black List 2025, earning recognition for his outstanding contributions off the pitch.
The Football Black List, launched eighteen years ago to highlight and celebrate African and Caribbean representation in British football, honors individuals making a significant impact across the game.
Iwobi’s inclusion reflects his growing influence beyond football, particularly through his Project 17 initiative.
Project 17, designed to educate, empower, and inspire young leaders, has already made a mark in communities across London.
Last summer, Iwobi hosted a second annual community day in Enfield, drawing more than a thousand attendees. He also funded a Christmas pop-up shop, ‘Alexpress,’ in Canning Town, providing free food and essentials during the festive season.
In addition, Project 17 sponsors Redbridge Community Football Club, further strengthening grassroots engagement.
Iwobi has also ventured into music, releasing tracks under his stage name ’17.’
His recognition comes during a season of exceptional performances for both club and country, including standout displays at the Africa Cup of Nations.
