Confirms hamstring injury for Ndidi
José Peseiro, the Super Eagles head coach says his target is to win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations for Nigeria and next Tuesday’s international friendly against the Desert Foxes of Algeria in Oran, Algeria.
‘I want to win the AFCON next year as Super Eagles coach and also want to beat Algeria in Tuesday’s international friendly,’ said the Portuguese in an interview with the Nigeria Football Federation media.
‘My expectations are to win the AFCON and also beat Algeria. As far as the Super Eagles are concerned, they are one of the best teams in Africa.
And also as you know, Nigerians always want their teams to win any football match be it friendly or competitive and we want to always win for them.’
Peseiro also confirmed Wilfred Ndidi’s injury and his unavailability for Tuesday’s game.
‘Ndidi felt something when out fitness coach was working on him, so he had to go back to England,’ he said.
The Super Eagles gaffer is also delighted to be the manager of such a talented team.
‘I am excited as the Super Eagles manager because I am blessed with quality players in every department.’
