Junior D’Tigress arrive in Czech Republic for FIBA U-19 Women’s World Cup with NSC backing

Nigeria’s U-19 women’s basketball team, Junior D’Tigress, has arrived in the city of Brno, Czech Republic, for the FIBA U-19 Women’s World Cup, which tips off Saturday, July 12.

Backed fully by the National Sports Commission (NSC), the team is ready to represent Nigeria on the international stage. Drawn in Group B, they’ll face China (July 12), Canada (July 13), and Portugal (July 15) in the preliminary rounds.

NSC Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, issued an inspiring message:

‘This tournament is a platform to showcase our belief in youth and grassroots development. We believe in the talent of these young women and stand with them as they compete with pride and purpose.’

The squad is led by Head Coach Faustina Akhere Juliana, with support from Assistant Coaches Nyingifa Atonye and Usuwa Chinedu Stone. The team is fired up and focused on putting Nigeria in the spotlight.

The event features 16 nations competing from July 12–20, marking the 16th edition of the prestigious championship.
