Kaizer Chiefs Eye Free Agent Nwabali After Chippa Exit

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly tabled an offer for Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who is currently a free agent after leaving Chippa United earlier this year.

The 29-year-old has built a strong reputation in South Africa during his four-year spell with Chippa United, earning recognition as Nigeria’s number one goalkeeper and featuring in two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

His standout displays at the 2023 AFCON further boosted his profile, attracting interest from several clubs, with Chiefs now said to be leading the chase.

According to reports, the Soweto giants are keen to strengthen their goalkeeping department, which has struggled for consistency this season.

With Brandon Petersen recovering from surgery and Bruce Bvuma filling in, Nwabali is seen as a commanding presence who could bring stability, sharp reflexes, and leadership to the squad.

Chiefs currently have Petersen, Fiacre Ntwari, and Bvuma in their ranks, but Ntwari, yet to make an appearance since joining in 2024, may be the most likely to depart if Nwabali signs.

The Nigerian’s availability on a free transfer makes him an appealing option for Amakhosi, who are eager to reinforce their squad as the season enters its decisive phase.
