Kenya’s Kiprotich and Indian, Jadhav provisionally suspended by AIU
The Athletics Integrity Unit, AIU, has provisionally suspended Faith Chepchirchir Kiprotich of Kenya and India’s Archana Laxman Jadhav for presence/use of a prohibited substance, Norandrosterone and Oxandrolone respectively.
With the provisional suspension, Kiprotich and Jadhav are suspended temporarily from participating in any competition or activity in athletics prior to a final decision at a hearing conducted under the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules or the Integrity Code of Conduct.
In doping cases, a provisional suspension is mandatory under the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules following an adverse analytical finding for any non-specified substance on the Prohibited List.
The notice of allegation for the Kenyan was issued two days before Christmas last year while that of the Indian was issued on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
The two athletes will now have to either prove how the prohibited substances got into their system or admit they are wrong.
Kiprotich, who will be 24 in March, is a long-distance runner who holds a lifetime best of 31:04 in the 10km which she achieved when she finished fifth in Lille in 2023 and 1:10:33 in the half marathon achieved last year at the Hyundai Half Marathon in Lisbon, Portugal.
The Indian, who was 20 last October, holds a 35:44.26 lifetime best over the 10,000m and 1:20:21 in the half marathon, both achieved between September and October last year in road running events in India.
