Leading by example: Troost-Ekong leads seven Eagles into Uyo camp for Benin, Rwanda games

Super Eagles stand-in captain at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, William Troost-Ekong is surely leading by example.

The 31-year-old was one of the early seven Eagles that arrived in the team’s nest in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against the Cheetahs of Republic of Benin and the Amavubi of Rwanda.

Others who arrived the team’s nest are Nottingham Forest duo of Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi; Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, South Africa-based Olisa Ndah and Lazio midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

Victor Osimhen is reported to have departed Napoli for Nigeria while some of the players who featured for the clubs on Saturday are also expected in Uyo later on Monday.

Former Nigeria international defender, Austin Eguavoen will lead the team against Gernot Rohr’s Benin in Uyo and Rwanda in Kigali.
