Leicester City top scorer, Iheanacho makes it five goals in five games for club and country

Kelechi Iheanacho scored for the fourth straight game for Leicester City in the Skybet Championship game on Saturday as the Foxes recorded their 11th win in
12 games to not only sit atop the log but also set the record for the best start in the history of the competition.

For Iheanacho, it was actually his fifth goal in his last five games for club and country after netting once in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia in an
international friendly game last week in Portugal.

The Nigerian was a substitute for the Foxes in the game at Swansea City and scored the third goal for the visitors on 87 minutes, three minutes after he came
on for Ricardo Pereira.

Iheanacho, 27, scored his first of five goals in October at the start of the month, netting the Foxes’ third goal in the 4-1 demolition of Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

The second came three days later at the King Power Stadium where he scored Leicester City’s second goal in the 3-0 defeat of Preston North End while he was on song again just before the international break as he fired his club to a 2-0 win against visiting Stoke City.

The Super Eagle turned to the international stage and put Nigeria ahead in the 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia at the Portimonense Estádio in Portimão, Portugal after Victor Boniface had drawn Nigeria level following Saudi Arabia’s shock opener.

Iheanacho returned to England to resume his goalscoring feat in the Foxes 3-1 win at Swansea City.

The Nigerian has now scored seven goals and provided two assists in 15 games for club and country this year. He is the Foxes’ top scorer so far this season and Skybet Championship’s joint fourth top scorer. He is just three goals shy of Sunderland’s Jack Clarke who has scored eight times in the competition to sit as the top scorer in the league.

He has now scored 61 goals in 220 games for the Foxes since he joined in August 2017 from Premier League side, Manchester City.
