‘Let Osimhen go or you are finished’: Napoli VP receives death threats as transfer row escalates
The ongoing transfer negotiations between Napoli and Galatasaray over Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen have taken a disturbing turn, with Napoli vice president Edoardo De Laurentiis reportedly receiving death threats via WhatsApp from an alleged Galatasaray supporter.
According to Turkish journalist Samet Çayır, the threatening messages came from a fan who claimed to be affiliated with the Turkish Mafia. The individual warned De Laurentiis to release Osimhen or face dire consequences for himself and his father, Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli’s club president.
The threats emerged amid stalled negotiations between the two clubs. Osimhen, who spent the 2024–25 season on loan at Galatasaray and scored an impressive 37 goals in 41 appearances, is keen to make the move permanent.
However, Napoli are holding firm on their demand for the full €75 million release clause, with at least €50 million paid upfront.
Galatasaray’s latest offer reportedly includes staggered payments and a refusal to include a sell-on clause, both of which Napoli have rejected4. The tension has now spilled beyond the boardroom, raising concerns about the safety of club officials and the toxic atmosphere surrounding high-profile transfers.
Despite the threats, Napoli have not backed down from their valuation, and Osimhen’s future remains uncertain as negotiations continue.
