Lookman Equals Osimhen, Eto’o Serie A Record

Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has become the third African player in Serie A history to score 10+ goals in the first 19 games of the season.

Lookman scored a brace in Atalanta’s 3-3 draw with Juventus Sunday evening at the Allianz A stadium to bring his total goal haul this term to 11 goals in 18 games.

The 25 year old has not just become the second Nigerian after Osimhen to score 10+ goals in his debut season in the Italian top-flight League but also the third to

hit double figure goals in the first 19 games of the season.

Lookman has now equalled the feat Eto’o first achieved in the 2010/11 season when he netted 10 times in his first 19 games for Inter Milan.

Osimhen followed suit this season and at the last count he has scored 13 times in just 15 appearances for Napoli.

Lookman has scored 11 goals in 18 games so far for Atalanta.

Interestingly, the two Nigerians are also in the race for the Serie A top scorer honour this season with Lookman second with his 11 goals behind Osimhen’s 13.

The two will be eagerly waiting for this weekend’s games to add to their goals. While Osimhen who has scored four times in his last three Serie A games including the

brace against Juventus will be looking to add Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma to the list of his victims, Lookman will be seeking to score a third straight brace in the

competition when Sampdoria visit on Saturday.
