Lookman looking to make Monza 19th Serie A side to score against
Nigerian in Atalanta squad for Wednesday's game at Gewiss stadium
Ademola Lookman is in Atalanta’s 23-man squad to face visiting Monza at the Gewiss stadium on Wednesday in a Serie A match week 10 tie.
The Nigerian has returned from Paris, the French capital where he attended the 2024 Ballon d’Or event, and will look to score for the second consecutive Serie A game for the second time this season.
Lookman netted a brace and provided two assists to help Atalanta to a 6-1 demolition of Hellas Verona at the Gewiss stadium last weekend and the 27-year-old will be keen to score again in front of his home fans yet again like he did last month when he scored the winner in the 3-2 defeat of Fiorentina and the 3-2 loss to Cesc Fabregas’ Como.
If he scores, it will be his fifth game in seven Serie appearances this season and first ever goal against the visitors in five appearances.
The former Everton, Fulham and Leicester City player has bagged four assists against the team from the Lombardy region of Italy, the most he has provided against any side in the division.
A goal on Wednesday will mean Monza will become the 19th team Lookman would have scored against since he moved to Italy in August 2022. He has scored against the traditional big teams in Italy like Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Napoli.
