Lookman Opens Season Account, Bassey Delivers Decisive Penalty for Fulham

Ademola Lookman netted his first goal of the season for Atalanta in their Serie A clash against AC Milan at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, but his strike wasn’t enough to secure victory as the hosts settled for a 1-1 draw, their fifth consecutive stalemate.

AC Milan took an early lead in the 4th minute through Samuele Ricci, but Lookman responded with a moment of brilliance.

Latching onto a through ball from Mario Pasalic, the Nigerian forward took a deft touch before unleashing a powerful left-footed shot into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

The goal marked Lookman’s fourth in seven Serie A appearances against Milan and his 40th in 98 games in the competition. It also came after a turbulent summer marked by transfer speculation.

Meanwhile, in England, Frank Onyeka continued his impressive run in the EFL (Carabao) Cup, starting for Brentford in their emphatic 5-0 win over Grimsby Town, the same side that had knocked Manchester United out of the competition.

Onyeka’s consistent performances could well earn him a long-awaited Premier League start.

Over at Adams Park, Fulham advanced to the next round after a dramatic penalty shootout win over Wycombe Wanderers, following a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Calvin Bassey started the match, while Alex Iwobi came on in the second half and calmly converted his spot-kick.

Bassey sealed the victory with the decisive penalty after misses from Ryan Sessegnon and Jonah Kusi-Asare.
