Lookman ready to lower wage demands to seal Inter Milan move

Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman is pushing hard for a summer switch to Inter Milan and is reportedly willing to reduce his wage demands to help make the deal happen.

According to SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, the Nigerian international is prepared to accept a salary of €3.5 million net per season, down from the initially agreed €4 million, in order to facilitate the transfer.

Inter Milan have identified Lookman as their top attacking target this summer. The 27-year-old, who played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League triumph in 2024, has already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with the Nerazzurri.

However, negotiations between the clubs remain ongoing. Atalanta have rejected Inter’s opening bid of €40 million, holding firm on their €50 million valuation5. Inter are expected to return with an improved offer, possibly structured with bonuses to meet Atalanta’s demands.

Behind the scenes, the transfer appears to be gathering momentum. Reports from Corriere di Bergamo suggest that Lookman’s teammates have already bid him farewell in an emotional moment at the training ground, signaling that a move is imminent.

Although Lookman is currently sidelined with a minor calf injury, he has been present at the training facility undergoing individual therapy.

Sources close to the player indicate that Lookman is adamant about joining Inter, having turned down interest from other clubs, including Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain8. He is said to be holding Atalanta to a verbal promise made last summer, allowing him to leave if a suitable offer arrived.

Former Nigerian international Sambo Choji has also endorsed the move, stating that Inter would be a perfect fit for Lookman’s style and ambition:

‘He remained professional and gave his best, but I believe it’s time for a new challenge. Inter are a huge club, and they have the type of players who can get the best out of Lookman,’ Choji told Africafoot.

Lookman, who scored 21 goals last season, is under contract with Atalanta until 2027.
