Lookman Sets AFCON Record With Multiple-Assists Across Matches
Ademola Lookman has etched his name into Africa Cup of Nations history with a string of standout performances for Nigeria.
The Atalanta forward became the first player on record since 2010 to deliver multiple assists in more than one AFCON match, setting up two goals against Tunisia in matchday two and repeating the feat against Mozambique in the round of 16.
Beyond his creativity, Lookman has also proven prolific in front of goal.
With six strikes across two AFCON final tournaments, the 27-year-old now sits third on Nigeria’s all-time scoring chart at the competition, trailing only Rashidi Yekini (13) and Austin Jay-Jay Okocha (7).
His overall tally of 11 goal contributions (six goals and five assists) places him second in Nigeria’s history, behind only Yekini’s 15 (13 goals, two assists).
With Nigeria still in contention at AFCON 2025, Lookman has the chance to surpass Yekini’s record and become the Super Eagles’ most influential player in the tournament’s history.
