Lookman Urges Atletico Madrid to Keep Winning Mindset Ahead of Barcelona Clash

Atletico Madrid forward Ademola Lookman has called on his teammates to maintain their focus ahead of next week’s Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Barcelona at Camp Nou.

The Nigerian international made a memorable debut at the Wanda Metropolitano, scoring once and providing an assist in Atletico’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Barcelona in the first leg.

Lookman struck in the 33rd minute to register the club’s third goal of the night before setting up Julian Alvarez for the fourth, having earlier been assisted by the Argentine for his own goal.

Speaking after the match, the 28-year-old emphasized the importance of sustaining the winning mentality in the games leading up to the return leg.

‘Of course, it’s a big victory. But we have a few more games in between before we play them away, so we must keep the same mindset and the same focus in those matches, which will take us to the other semi final. We are looking forward to the days ahead,’ Lookman said.

He also expressed his delight at playing alongside Atletico’s star-studded squad, praising the quality of his teammates.

‘They are top, top players with amazing ability and amazing talent. It is very nice to play with these type of players, to work with them and to have the same goal to win. That’s very important,’ he added.

Lookman, who joined Atletico during the winter transfer window, has already contributed to four goals in his first three appearances for the club, scoring twice and providing two assists.
