Lookman voted player of the match in Atalanta UEFA Champions League win Vs Shakhtar

Ademola Lookman has been named Player of the match in Atalanta’s 3-0 defeat of Ukrainian, Shakhtar Donetsk at the VELTINS-Arena in Gelsenkirchen in Germany on Wednesday night.

The Nigerian scored his first goal and provided his first assist of the competition in his third appearance in the competition. He also made five attempts on goal in the 60 minutes he was on the pitch.

The 26-year-old was subsequently named Player of the match by the UEFA Technical Observer Panel.

‘He (Lookman) showed great skill and was outstanding with the ball, providing a goal, assist, two chances and hitting the crossbar. Always available to his team-mates, he displayed tactical clever movement and good defensive work,’ wrote the panel about the Nigerian who was also named by Whoscored in the Serie A team of the month of September despite playing just three games.

Lookman has become the 40th Nigerian to score in the history of the UEFA Champions League and has helped his club maintain their unbeaten status in their last 11 away matches in Europe (W6 D5).
