‘Lookman’s win is unsurprising, a positive spur for Nigerian sports’ – NSC DG, Olopade
The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Honourable Bukola Olopade, has described Ademola Lookman’s coronation as the 2024 CAF Player of the Year as a well-deserved victory that will ignite positive momentum for Nigerian sports.
Inspite of his tight schedules, Hon. Olopade was live at the Awards in Marrakech, Morocco to support the 27-year-old Nigerian player, as he extolled his special talent.
The DG stated that Lookman’s triumph serves as an inspiration for Nigerian athletes and aligns with the nation’s renewed vision for sports development under the current administration.
“Lookman’s win cannot be questioned, as he rose above all his peers on the continent,” Olopade stated.
The Nigerian forward beat strong contenders, including Serhou Guirassy (Guinea), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), and Ronwen Williams (South Africa), to claim the prestigious award.
Olopade emphasized that Lookman’s achievement is a reflection of hard work, consistency, and the limitless potential of Nigerian athletes on the global stage.
He added that such wins are vital for boosting morale and inspiring a new generation of talent as Nigeria charts a transformative path in sports administration.
