Los Angeles Sparks Confirm D’Tigress Game in San Diego, 16 Years After Historic Chinese Matchup

The Los Angeles Sparks have confirmed their 2026 preseason schedule, which features a landmark international showcase and a long-awaited return to San Diego.
On Saturday, April 25, the Sparks will face the Nigerian Women’s National Team at Viejas Arena on the campus of San Diego State University.
The contest marks the first-ever meeting between the two sides and highlights the expanding global reach of women’s basketball.
The game also carries historical significance, coming 16 years after Los Angeles last played in San Diego. On May 1, 2010, the Sparks hosted the Chinese Women’s National Team in what was the first WNBA game ever staged in the city.
That night, Los Angeles secured a 78-58 victory, led by Women’s Basketball Hall of Famer Ticha Penicheiro, who dished out a game-high seven assists.
