Louis Edem Basketball Tournament: Rivers Hoopers advance to semis
Rivers Hoopers are through to the semifinals of the Louis Edem Basketball Tournament after a 70-62 win over Police Batons in Lagos on Wednesday.
For a third consecutive edition, Rivers Hoopers will play in the last four of the competition.
Police Batons shot to a 13-8 lead in the opening quarter and took advantage of a poor offensive display by Hoopers.
A brilliant second quarter by Hoopers took the lead to a double-digit lead (30-20) with 4:47 left in the first half.
Police Batons returned from the break with so much intensity and aggression as Hoopers had a two-minute scoreless run. They, however, stayed in a touching distance.
With 1:15 remaining, Police Batons cut the deficit to four points (64-60), but a spirited performance by Michael Daramola late in the game gave Hoopers the win. Daramola scored 6 points in the last 60 seconds of the game.
The KingsMen will face Energies of Benin Republic in their last group game on Thursday.
