Lyon Manager: Why we want to sign Gift Orban
Olympique Lyonnais manager Pierre Sage has confirmed why the Ligue 1 side want to sign Nigeria forward, Gift Orban Belgian pro Lague side, KVV Gent.
French top sports paper, L’Équipe had reported on Tuesday that the 21 year old Orban is set to join Les Gones imminently in a €13m deal.
L’Équipe also reveal that the Nigerian will sign a four-and-a-half-year with Olympique Lyonnais in the coming days.
Sage has now revealed why the club is interested in Orban who seems to have lost his scoring touch of late.
‘He is an attacker, a goalscorer who offers lots of possibilities. We needed this profile,’ Sage said at a press conference on Wednesday.
Orban who is expected to provide competition for Alexandre Lacazette up-front has scored 32 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions since he joined Gent January 31, 2023 from Norwegian second division side, Stabæk Fotball.
