Malik named as new Delta Athletics Association Chairman

Sir Itiako Ikpokpo popularly called Malik has been named as the new Chairman of Delta State Athletics Association following the constitution of a new board for the Association by the Delta State Sports Commission.

In a memo dated May 29, 2025, and signed by Okonma Franka, the Commission’s Director of Public Relation, Malik is heading a new 8-man board comprising representatives of athletes, coaches, National Association of Women in Sports, technical officials and media with Barrister Smart Edoge named as vice chairman.

Shaibu Aliyu Aliu is the Secretary of the Association.

Chinedu Abujei is the athletes’ representative while Emily Osakwe will represent the coaches with Oba Joyce Oghenetaga as the representative of NAWIS.

Godspower Odede is the representative of the technical officials with Guardian reporter, Gowon Akpodonor also named as a member of the association.

Malik is succeeding two-time Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, president, Solomon Ogba.
