Man United 1-0 Newcastle: Patrick Dorgu Nets First Red Devils Goal After 38 Games
Amorim's men win without Bruno Fernandes for first time since 2022

Patrick Dorgu finally broke his duck for Manchester United, scoring his first goal for the club on his 38th appearance and with his 31st shot in all competitions.
The 20-year-old defender struck sweetly, describing it as ‘a good hit’ and admitting he was surprised by the finish. He credited manager Ruben Amorim’s advice on building confidence and his training ground practice for helping him seize the moment.
United’s victory carried extra significance, as it was the first Premier League game they’ve won without Bruno Fernandes since March 2022 under Ralf Rangnick. Before this, the Red Devils had lost five of their last six league matches without their captain, drawing the other.
The match also highlighted United’s resilience. They had just 33.4% possession, their lowest in a league fixture this season, yet still managed to grind out the win.
It was their lowest possession in a victorious league game since January 2023 against Manchester City, when they had only 29.4%.
Newcastle, meanwhile, dominated the ball with 621 passes, their highest tally in a single Premier League match this term, but couldn’t convert control into points.
