Martinez moves 11 goals clear of Osimhen in Serie A top scorer’s race

Napoli forward Victor Osimhen will have a lot of catching ups to do of he wants to be crowned the top scorer in the Serie A for the second straight season after Lautaro Martinez netted twice in Inter Milan’s 5-0 bashing of Monza on Saturday.
The Argentina striker has now netted 11 times in 18 Serie A games, 11 more than the Nigerian duo of Osimhen and Ademola Lookman who are joint fourth with seven goals.
AC Milan forward ,Oliver Giroud, Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu and Domenico Beradi of Sassuolo are joint second with nine goals.
Osimhen was crowned the top scorer in the Serie A last season after scoring 26 goals in 31 games to inspire Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years.
The Nigerian thus became the first African in Serie A history to be crowned top scorer.
The 24 year is on duty with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations and may lose more ground in the race especially if the Super Eagles make it to the final stages of the competition.
