Meluso: ‘Osimhen is not a player that easy to find in the market’
Former Napoli sporting director Mauro Meluso says Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen is not the kind of player any club can easily buy in the market and revealed Napoli President, Aurelio De Laurentiis received very significant offers for the 25-year-old which he discarded.
‘Before I came to Napoli, there were very important offers, but De Laurentiis didn’t take them into account because he thought they were not good for the club. He may have made the wrong assessments, but he did it for Napoli’s competitiveness. Osimhen is not a player that easy to find,’ Meluso said in his speech at the Palermo Football Conference.
He also revealed why Osimhen considered the transfer to Galatasaray after his link with PSG, Chelsea and Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia did not materialize.
‘When they could not find a suitable team in the transfer window, they found such a solution temporarily.
Osimhen had said he no longer wanted to stay in Naples. They came up with such a solution so that he would not lose at least a few months. We’ll see what happens in January.”
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan from Italian Serie A side Napoli in the summer transfer window.
The star striker has made four appearances for the Super Lig club, scoring two goals and provided four assists.
