Middlesbrough Eyes Late Swoop for Akpom

According to Sky Sports, Sky Bet Championship side, Middlesbrough are making a dramatic eleventh-hour attempt to snatch Chuba Akpom from Birmingham City’s grasp.

Despite Ajax already agreeing to a £7 million loan-to-buy deal with Birmingham, Boro have submitted a fresh bid in a bold move to reclaim their former striker.

Akpom, 29, had been set to arrive in England Sunday for a medical with the Blues.

The twist is especially juicy, as the forward was Boro’s top scorer during their Championship campaign two years ago before sealing a £12.3 million transfer to Ajax.
