Miller-Uibo looking to win in 2024 on the track for her son after storming home first in Zurich
Shaunae Miller-Uibo says she will be aiming to win her third Olympic 400m gold for her son after running a 51.83 personal season’s best to win the 400m at the Weltklasse Diamond League meeting in Zurich, Switzerland.
The Bahamian gave birth to her first child in April and returned to the track just in time to run in her sixth World Athletics Championships which ended last Sunday in Budapest, Hungary.
The 29 year old did not go past the first round in an event she has ran in three finals at the Championships, coming second in 2015, fourth in 2017 before emerging champions last year in Oregon, USA.
Miller-Uibo has now turned her focus to next season and hopes to do great things for her son.
‘It has been a long season, and obviously it would have come in handy for this to be the start of it – I just have to build for next season, and to get the body used to the shock again – and be ready for next season.
‘Having become a mother has no comparison [to her greatest athletics achievement].
‘This is my greastest blessing, and I love that boy so much. I am going to go back into things, and I just want to make him proud. I want to get back up and, hopefully, whatever happens next year, I am doing it for him,’ she said in her post race interview in Zurich.
