MTN CHAMPS Athletics Classics Returns to Calabar with 1000 Athletes

The U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar will come alive from March 5 to 7 as MTN CHAMPS Season 4 kicks off with the Athletics Classics.
This marks a return to the Cross River State capital, which previously hosted the Season 2 Grand Final in 2024.
Over 1000 athletes representing 121 schools and teams are set to compete across nearly 100 track and field events, making this the largest athletics competition in Nigeria’s history.
With 2,399 event entries across four categories, Cadet (U14), Youth (U17), Junior (U20), and Senior, this edition promises an exciting showcase of talent.
The Youth and Cadet divisions alone will feature nearly 500 athletes from 56 schools.
All registered schools and athletes must collect their competition bibs by Wednesday, March 4, at the U.J Esuene Stadium to confirm participation.
Athletes under 21 are also required to submit signed parental consent forms during bib collection, with school or team representatives ensuring compliance.
Registration remains open for upcoming MTN CHAMPS events, including the Continental Relays in Jos (March 26–28) and the Grand Final in Ibadan (April 15-18). Interested schools and teams can register via [https://register.mtnchamps.com](https://register.mtnchamps.com).
Since its inception in 2023, MTN CHAMPS has drawn over 22,000 athletes from more than 1,300 schools across eight Nigerian cities.
With strong institutional partnerships and a three-year Olympic-aligned roadmap, Season 4 sets the stage not only for discovery but also for sustained Olympic preparation through 2028.
