Muhammed Tijani embracing opportunity to play under Wayne Rooney at Plymouth

Wants to use Sky Bet Championships side to achieve lifelong ambition of playing in Premier League

Nigerian striker, Muhammed Tijani says he is excited to have an opportunity to play not only in England but also under Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney, a player he said he watched growing up.

The Nigerian joined Sky Bet Championship side, Plymouth Argyle on a season-long loan from Slavia Prague, for whom he played – and scored – in the Europa League last season.

‘It feels amazing being here, I am happy about it,’ Muhammed told Argyle TV. ‘I have a dream of playing in the Premier League and this is one of the ways to go there. When I heard that Wayne Rooney is the new Head Coach, I was like: ‘yeah, I’m going to go there!’

‘Whilst growing up, I watched some of his games. He was excellent, so learning from him will be a great experience for me.

‘It’s my first time in England, and I can’t wait to take up the challenge.’

Tijani is excited to work under the guidance of Rooney and meet his new teammates. He also revealed to Plymouth fans what to expect from him.

‘Firstly, I would like to say my hold-up play,’ he said. ‘I’m very good at that and then my goal scoring with headers as well; I’m very strong in the air. I’m also a team player.

‘I’m the type of player who always wants to win and score goals. You should expect goals and wins.’
