Mumini Alao heads investigative committee to probe Ofiligate, other negative exposures at Paris 2024 Olympics

Highly respected and honest sports journalist and former Group Managing Director of Complete Communications Limited, Dr Mumini Alao will head an investigative committee to probe the various negative exposures Nigeria received at the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This was announced in a press release by the Federal Ministry of Sports Development signed its Director (Information and PR), Mrs Kehinde Ajayi.

The 7-member committee to investigate such incidents which will be inaugurated at 11 am on Wednesday, 25th September 2024 at the Media Centre, MKO Abiola Stadium Package A, Abuja also have as members Aliyu Mohammed, Hajia Rakiya Muhammed and sports journalist cum sports administrator, Godwin Enakhena.

Others are Dr Abubakar Ango, Christy Opara and Barrister Victor Okangbe who will serve as the Secretary.

The committee’s terms of reference will be provided at the inauguration.

The committee will be expected to reveal who in the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN and the Nigeria Olympic Committee failed to register Favour Ofili for the 100m event, an error that caused Nigeria an international embarrassment.

Meanwhile, the Federal Ministry of Sports Development has also convened the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Post Games Audit and Review meeting for Tuesday, 24th September 2024.

Those invited to the meeting are President and Secretary General of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and Paralympic Committee of Nigeria (PCN), Presidents, Secretarys’ General, Technical Directors and Coaches of all twelve Sports to the Olympics and all four sports to the Paralympics.

Others are members of the Ministerial Podium Performance Committee led by its chairman, Professor Ken Anugweje as well as heads of technical departments of the Ministry.

The venue of the meeting is the Media Centre, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. Time is 11am.
