Mutiu Adepoju Appointed to EX-University of Ibadan Footballers Association BOT

The EX-University of Ibadan Footballers Association (EXUIFA) has announced the appointment of Mutiu Adepoju, MON, to its Board of Trustees with immediate effect.

Adepoju, fondly nicknamed ‘The Headmaster,’ is celebrated as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished football icons.

A former Super Eagles midfielder, he played a crucial role in Nigeria’s 1994 Africa Cup of Nations triumph and represented the country at three FIFA World Cups, earning admiration for his discipline, leadership, and technical brilliance.

In a statement signed by Association President Edwin Evbie, EXUIFA praised Adepoju’s longstanding support for its mission, highlighting his humility, encouragement, and dedication to youth and football development.

The association expressed confidence that his wealth of experience and international perspective would enhance its vision and credibility.

‘His passion for advancing football, particularly at the grassroots level, aligns perfectly with our goals. We are honored to welcome a figure of his stature to the Board of Trustees,’ the statement read.

Adepoju’s appointment follows the stepping down of Pastor Adebayo Gbadebo, to whom EXUIFA extended gratitude for his service and contributions.

With Adepoju now on board, the association says it is poised to deepen its impact and continue promoting excellence in football within its community and beyond.

Members and the wider football fraternity have been encouraged to warmly welcome the new trustee as he begins his tenure.
