Naija Super 8: Olisema’s Curler Wins Custodian Life Assurance Goal of the Tournament
Flykite Productions, the organizers of the Naija Super 8, have announced Cyril Olisema’s exceptional strike for Akwa United against Yobe Desert Stars as the standout goal of the tournament in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 7th, 2023.
In recognition of his remarkable goal, he will receive a cash prize sponsored by Custodian Life Assurance Ltd.
Speaking on the sponsorship, Mr. Larry Ademeso, MD, Custodian Life Assurance Ltd, stated that the firm is delighted to be one of the sponsors, noting that the event gave the firm an avenue to drive better public understanding and benefits of life insurance.
He remarks, “We are happy to be involved in the Naija Super 8 tournament. The tournament provided a platform to deepen the understanding of insurance and contribute to grassroots football in Nigeria. Olisema exchanged a sequence of short passes with Osoba Kabir at the edge of the opponent’s box before elegantly curling the ball into the back of the net, doubling AkwaUnited’s lead to 2-0 against Yobe Desert Stars in the initial match of Group B.
His remarkable finish secured three points for Akwa United and propelled them to a 2-1 victory in the match. The team advanced to the semi-finals, but their journey ended when they lost by a 1-2 scoreline against Sporting Lagos, who went on to win the tournament.
