Napoli Owner: Osimhen will sign a two-year extension

Napoli has agreed a two-year contract extension with striker Victor Osimhen, according to club owner Aurelio de Laurentiis.

Osimhen’s current deal at Napoli runs out in the summer of 2025, with the Nigerian linked with a host of major clubs such as Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United. His future at Napoli remains uncertain.

During Napoli’s press conference to announce Rudi Garcia as manager, De Laurentiis was asked about Osimhen and he revealed that an agreement for a two-year extension has been reached and talks were held before the Scudetto party under Luciano Spalletti.

‘We already spoke with Osimhen before the Scudetto party and we are in agreement on extending the contract for another two years. For the other players we will also have to see and study with Garcia. I am convinced that preparation in the training camps is fundamental.’

Osimhen is said to have a very high asking price for Napoli and that could deter potential suitors this summer, even though Napoli have already spoken to Udinese about signing Beto as a potential replacement.

Osimhen scored 26 goals to help Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years and emerge the Serie A top scorer.

The Nigeria also ended the 2022/23 season as the top scoring African in a single Serie A season and the all-time African top scorer in the competition.

His 31 goals in 39 games were the most scored by an African player in the 2022/23 season and has also emerged top scorer with seven goals in the qualifiers for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
