Nasarawa United unveil eight new signings ahead of 2024/25 NPFL second stanza

Relegation haunted Nasarawa United on Wednesday officially unveiled eight high-profile players at a Press Conference at their home ground, the Lafia City Stadium, in what is seen as a major squad overhaul ahead of the commencement of the second stanza of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League Season.

The club said in a media statement that the need to bolster the team’s chances of success means they need to secure the services of some of the most talented and sought-after players in the top-flight league considering their position on the league table.

‘The new signings bring a wealth of experience, skill, and determination to the squad, and will be available for selection for our team’s first match of the second stanza against Katsina United on Saturday, 25th January 2025, at the Lafia City Stadium by 4pm,’ wrote the club in the statement.

Some of the new players include: Central defender, Benson Abbey who joined from Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, left back, Peace Dewan formerly of Sunshine Stars of Akure, attacking midfielder, Abubakar Aliyu previously with Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan.

Also signed are central midfielder, Solomon Chigozie from Kwara United FC of Ilorin, winger, Peter Eneji, who rejoined from Busaiteen FC of Bahrain and centre forward, Ugochukwu Leonard who relinked up from Heartland FC of Owerri.

Nasarawa United are currently bottom of the NPFL table with 16 points from 19 games.
