Ndidi and Leicester City could be relegated from the Premier League today
Wilfred Ndidi could become the third Super Eagles star to be relegated to the Sky Bet Championships if Leicester City lose to Liverpool today at the King Power stadium.
Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu had earlier gone down with Southampton just a year after they returned to the Premier League.
Ndidi is also set for an instant return to the second tier of English football less than a year after helping the Foxes to make an immediate return to the Premier League.
Leicester City have garnered 18 points from 32 games so far this season and are 17 points away from safety. If the Foxes lose today, it will mean they will be fighting for 15 points from the available five games that would be left.
The Nigerian has been a pivotal member of Leicester City since he joined the club from Belgian side, KRC Genk in January 2017.
He has made 298 appearances with the bulk coming from the Premier League (214) and has scored 18 goals with seven in the Premier League.
The 28 year old is just one of only three Nigerian players to start over 200 Premier League games in history and holds the record for the most tackles (762), most interceptions (413), highest number of blocks (78), and has conceded the highest number of penalties by any Nigerian in the history of the competition.
