Ndidi bags 15th assist in 250 games for Leicester City, fourth for Iheanacho
Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi bagged an assist in his club’s 3-0 defeat of Preston North End Wednesday evening at the King Power stadium.
It was the Nigerian’s second assist in 10 Championship games so far this season and 3rd in 13 games across all competitions.
Overall, it was Ndidi’s 15th in 250 games for the Foxes since he joined in January 2017 from Belgian side, KRC Genk.
The 26 year old provided a superb first-time pass through the Preston defence to set up the easiest of goals for Kelechi Iheanacho to score Leicester City’s second goal of the 3-0 win on 76 minutes after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall had given the Foxes the lead in the 60th minute.
Dewsbury-Hall bagged his brace on 90 minutes to ensure Leicester City stay two points clear at the top of the log ahead of Finidi George’s former team, Ipswich Town.
Interestingly, Ndidi’s assist for Iheanacho in the game was the fourth time the midfielder would be assisting his Super Eagles teammate to score for the Foxes.
The first time Ndidi provided Iheanacho with an assist was in March 2021 when he helped his compatriot to score the equaliser in the Foxes’ 1-1 draw at Turf Moor against Burnley.
The second soon followed 11 days later in the Foxes’ 5-0 mauling of Sheffield United at the King Power stadium. The third assist came at Stamford Bridge in May of the same year when the midfielder freed the forward to score Leicester City’s goal in a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.
