Ndori, Tebogo headline Botswana team to 23rd African Athletics Championships

The Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) has selected quartermiler Bayapo Ndori and World Athletics Championships’ 100m and 200m medalist, Lestile Tebogo among a formidable team that will represent the country at the 23rd CAA African Senior Athletics Championships, which will be held in Douala, Cameroon from Friday.

According the the BAA, the team is made up of 32 athletes; 12 females, 20 males and nine officials.

Ndori, silver medalist in the 400m at the last edition two years ago in Mauritius is currently the fastest African over the full lap so far this year with the 44.10 he ran in April and was a member of the Botswana 4x400m relay team that ran 2:59.11 to win the event at the World Relays in the Bahamas in May.

Tebogo is one of the fastest sprinters ever and will compete in the 100m and 200m as well as the 4x100m relay. He is also the defending 200m at the African Athletics Championships.

During the last edition held in Saint Pierre, Mauritius, Botswana won seven medals.

Four were gold medals won by Letsile Tebogo in the 200 metres, long jumper Tlhalosang Tshireletso, and 4x400m mixed and 4x400m men’s relay.

The two silver medals were won by Bayapo Ndori in the 400m, while Tshireletso won yet another medal in the triple jump.
